Since 2020, John Magee has been CEO of VLS Environmental Solutions, a North American leader in delivering innovative environmental solutions that help clients achieve their sustainability goals. Since taking the helm, he has overseen VLS’s growth from 13 sites and $120 million in revenue to more than 50 sites and $450 million in revenue.

John has more than 25 years of transportation industry experience. He began his career in 1994 with Eagle Global Logistics and contributed to its growth into one of the largest global freight forwarding companies in the United States. After learning the business, he served in a variety of roles, including national account manager; managing director; vice president of the South Pacific; vice president of the U.K., Ireland and Benelux; and senior vice president of the South-Central U.S. and Latin America region. He left the company after its 2007 acquisition by CEVA Logistics and later became the founding president and CEO of Crane Worldwide Logistics, a global freight forwarding business headquartered in Houston. During his 11 years leading Crane Worldwide, the company organically grew to 120 offices in 30 countries and just under $1 billion in annual revenue.

John was named the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 Gulf Coast Area winner in the Manufacturing and Distribution category and is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Texas in 1994.

John and his wife, Sally, have been married for 28 years and have three children: Adelaide, Camille and Declan. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his family and cooking.
